VR Game Reviews
Infinite Inside is a game that the puzzling part of your brain will enjoy greatly, and it makes great use of Virtual Reality, and the passthrough capabilities of the Quest headset to deliver a unique puzzling experience.
That is, combining Mixed Reality and Virtual Reality to create an impression of a tower in whatever room you are playing in, and you teleporting inside and exploring that tower. Deeper and deeper you go, and the game becomes more surreal and draws you into its atmosphere.
Today we’re reviewing another VR game, and today it's time to get in depth with a Breathedge: Cosmic Cluck review.
The flatscreen game Breathedge, which this game is loosely based on, was fully released in 2021, and according to steam reviews has been very well received.
Breathedge: Cosmic Cluck is a Virtual Reality take on the original game for the Meta Quest, and unfortunately it doesn't quite make the cut to really be called Breathedge VR. If that’s what you’re looking for here, then you’ll be disappointed.
Looking for an exciting, challenging, and realistic VR motorcycle game on your Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 2? Well then look no further, because an extremely realistic VR bike racing experience is here in the form of VRider SBK.
This is more than just a VR Motorcycle Game on the Meta Quest, it’s really more of a VR Motorcycle Simulator.
I have only ridden a real motorcycle once or twice, but even with this limited experience I can definitely appreciate and feel the efforts that the developers of VRider SBK put in to make this a very real feeling Virtual Reality Motorcycle Racing experience.
Let’s find out how in this quick VRider SBK Review.
Half-Life 2 is one of the most well known and respected video games of all time. Just like the original Half Life it is widely considered to be a classic that not only showcased some impressive technology for the time in the Source Engine, but also was another tightly designed and extremely well thought out experience that is full of memorable moments and superb gameplay.
Most players that have tried it can come to the conclusion that Half-Life 2 is a fun and good game. We already know that, so that’s not what I'm here to talk to you about. The question here is: As much as we've all loved Half-Life 2 on the flat screen, does that mean it is also fun in Virtual Reality?
VTOL VR is my personal favorite flight simulator of all time, and it’s completely playable entirely within Virtual Reality. There is no modern flight simulator that this as easy to pick up and as easy to play as VTOL VR.
Flying any of the numerous VTOL VR planes whether it be the dual engine F/A-26 high powered fighter jet or the sleek and stealthy F-45 is easy because the game itself displays all of the various interfaces, switches, and buttons of your chosen VTOL VR aircraft and you can use them with your VR hands.
I keep coming back to Tactical Assault VR. Whenever I want to jump into Virtual Reality and do a bit of Singleplayer tactical shooting there’s no game that I’ve found myself drifting towards loading up for a few missions more often than this one.
Part of me wonders why, and the answer I keep coming back to is just how snappy and satisfying the whole experience is. Despite having very basic and blocky visuals, Tactical Assault VR is the closest any Singleplayer shooter on the Meta Quest 3 (it is also on PCVR via Steam by the way) has come to absolutely nailing the sound and most importantly the feeling of a quick and responsive tactical shooter in Virtual Reality.
There are, weirdly enough, very few good representations of a Singleplayer VR Tactical Shooter out there for the Meta Quest 3, though there are some in development on PCVR. Onward is another good example I suppose, but its Singleplayer is lacking when compared to the game we’re talking about in this article.
So what do you do in CONVRGENCE? Mostly you collect stuff to sell, buy stuff, and use that stuff to avoid getting killed while you collect more stuff. It's a surprisingly entertaining system.
You fight and loot your way through until you find an extract and stand next to it for a few seconds. Then you're back in the base, sell your stuff, buy whatever you want or need. Rinse and repeat. Oh, and if you do die you lose everything, unless you have insurance, then you lose everything except for what's in your backpack.
There are multiple different location types to go and raid with different enemies, dangers, and surroundings, and overall I'd say the gameplay loop is solid. It's very similar to Paradox Of Hope's Raid Mode, though unfortunately there's no story mode in CONVRGENCE.
Payday 2 is part stealth game and part horde shooter, centered around letting you live a life of crime by executing various heists and robberies.
Of course, if you’re here then you’ve probably heard that Payday 2 has released a free DLC that allows anyone who owns the game to play it in Virtual Reality. Very exciting stuff, this isn’t another VR mod that may or may not function or convert all of the features of the game to Virtual Reality.
Nope, Payday 2 VR is actually a very well realized conversion of the flatscreen Payday 2 experience into Virtual Reality that unlike some other official VR ports has clearly been seen through to completion. However, that doesn’t mean this is a perfect conversion.
Today we're going to get in depth with Medieval Dynasty New Settlement, a VR port by Spectral Games of the flatscreen game Medieval Dynasty by Render Cube.
The flatscreen game has been around for a while, originally released in 2021, and according to Steam reviews is pretty well received and sold well. Medieval Dynasty New Settlement, or rather Medieval Dynasty VR, is a rebuilding of the concept of the original flatscreen game from the ground up for the Meta Quest, and features the same focus on surviving, crafting, and building yourself up from a simple peasant to the well respected owner of your own sprawling medieval estate, except now it's all in Virtual Reality!
At first, I thought that the idea of a VR digital trading Card Game was unnecessary and kind of stupid. Why add VR controls to a digital card game when you can represent the same mechanics with a flat screen and a mouse, or even a phone?
After experiencing this game I realised I was dead wrong.
Cards and Tankards is the BEST VR Card Game around, and in this review, I'm going to tell you why. I first came across this game when researching the possibility of writing an article over at realityremake.com about the Best VR Card Games.
Tea For God is an indie project with a single developer, one songwriter, and one extremely good voice actor. Tea For God has been around for a while and has changed a lot over time.
It is also in active development but is currently a complete experience that you can play from beginning to end. This isn't just a half-baked tech demo, though there is some very unique tech to experience in Tea For God, and I'm not just talking about all of the laser guns and robots.
There are hunting flatscreen games out there, plenty over the years, but a VR hunting game was something I hadn't experienced before running across Virtual Hunter, so I was intrigued. Needless to say, since I've written this article about it, Virtual Hunter kept being intriguing and is a really unique VR experience.
Sure, there are other VR games where you do some hunting, but that's not the core of those games and the hunting mechanics are pretty straightforward. In this VR Hunting Game, hunting is all of the game, and that focus made it very fun. So to explain the feeling of playing Virtual Hunter it would be easiest to just tell you the story of my first successful hunt.
While it isn't the first VR game released by developer Bolverk Games, it certainly is their most expansive. The question though, is is Genotype VR a good example of the Immersive Sim genre? Does it really succeed in being a good immersive sim game? Let's talk about it and find out more about Genotype VR in this review.
Swarm 2 is a fast paced action shooter where most of your movement is done by grappling hook. It’s a little frustrating at first to get the hang of, but when the stars align and you have the skill to swing yourself around like Spiderman and you’re flying through the air effortlessly while blasting robots out of the sky you feel like a god. This VR action game is intense and insanely fun if you want to master the movement system.
If you want to know why this is, and more about the game, then join me in this Swarm 2 VR Review.
There is no greater fantasy than that of being a super hero, and so it’s been a very long wait for a fully fledged super hero VR game that can really give you the experience of being a superhero in VR.
Well, a super hero VR experience has finally come to the Oculus Quest 2, Oculus Quest 3, and PCVR in the form of the super hero VR game Project Demigod.
So let’s dive into Project Demigod VR and see what superhero VR fun is in store in this game, and also where it falls short and could still use some work.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn the Piano, or you already know how to play and want a great new way to practice your skills, then you might have heard of the VR Piano Learning Game called PianoVision on the Oculus Quest 2 and 3.
PianoVision is a VR Piano simulator that lets you play the piano completely within your Meta Quest headset in both Mixed Reality and Virtual Reality spaces. It’s pretty incredible, even if just to see how far this technology has come and how it can be applied to learning things like the Piano.
To find out why this is keep reading this PianoVision VR review. So if you’ve ever wondered “Is PianoVision worth it?” here is where you will find out.
You might be wondering. “Is UNDERDOGS VR Worth It?” or “Is UNDERDOGS VR a fun game?” Well I’m here to tell you that yes, it is, and to find out why we’ll dive deep into what makes UNDERDOGS a fantastic futuristic mech brawler in Virtual Reality from VR game developer One Hamsa.
UNDERDOGS is a VR game where you fight robots in a huge gorilla mech suit. If that sounds like a good time to you, then you'll like this game.
For those that want to feel like an awesome fighter pilot, king of the sky, splashing enemy bogies left and right, but don’t want to become an amatuer aerospace engineer just to know what you’re doing, there’s Project Wingman. It’s kind of like the Ace Combat franchise. Set in a fictional world, full of massive battles, and can be played with a controller.
So, you want to play ARK VR.
Of course you do! ARK: Survival Evolved is a hit survival game on the flatscreen for its incredible mix of base building, survival mechanics, and most importantly the ability to train and ride your very own dinosaurs.
Of course not all games with VR support are necessarily great to play in VR, and so here we’ll delve into whether or not VR ARK is worth it and taking a look at the ARK game made specifically for Virtual Reality, ARK Park.
If you’re looking for a hardcore VR World War 2 Flight Simulator to try then IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad (aka IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles) is definitely one that you should consider.
While IL 2 VR can be hard to play the first few times you try it, and doesn’t have any VR motion controls, once you get over the hardcore learning curve it’s a VR flight sim that looks fantastic and offers massive realism and depth for your flying experience.
After completing a full playthrough of Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice, and here's some quick thoughts on the game.
Overall this is a pretty fun vampire assassination and steath VR game. What it does best is the feeling of being a supernatural assassin. Sneaking from spot to spot and taking out your enemies one by one.
Today we’re going to be looking at a fantastic survival game, Subnautica, and found out how well it plays in Virtual Reality without mods and with the Submversed VR mod.
Here we’re going to take a look at Subnautica VR both with and without mods. Without spoiling too much I have to say that the unmodded version of VR Subnautica only plays well when you’re using a traditional controller rather than moving your actual hands with VR touch controllers.
More than anything else I was looking to facing the constant threat of the mutant cannibal people that hunt you with more and more aggression and force as time goes on. That was a challenge that would be even more fun to face when fighting them with my actual hands in VR.
Unfortunately it didn’t quite turn out how I imagined. The Forest VR has the bones of a good VR game, but has a lot of little things holding it back from being as great as it should be.
So maybe you’re a racing game aficionado and want to branch out into the world of VR, or think that Virtual Reality might enhance your Assetto Corsa experience. Maybe you’re a dedicated VR gamer who wants a fun PCVR racing game to try. Either way you’re here because you’re wondering how good Assetto Corsa VR is and maybe even how to set it up.
Looking for a football Virtual Reality game? Wondering when Madden VR is finally going to come? Well if your standards for Virtual Reality football are low and very limited to being a quarterback then the football Virtual Reality game you want might already be here in NFL Pro Era VR.
There are a lot of different sorts of games that are present or even prevalent on the flatscreen that still haven’t made it to VR. That has been largely true for VR tank games, except for some really poor attempts there hasn’t been a noteable VR tank game to talk about so far.
Well that has changed. Now there is a truly great VR tank game that isn’t perfect, but has a ton of potential. Steel Crew. Here we’re going to talk about this new VR tank game that is currently in early access, and some of what it does well and still needs work on.
Have you ever wanted a true Dark Souls VR or Elden Ring VR experience that didn’t rely on janky mods for games not really built for VR? Well then look no further, because Metalcat Studio has just released a Dark Souls VR game that is built from the ground up for Virtual Reality. It’s called Grimlord, and wow does it have everything you might want in a Dark Souls VR game. Here we’re going to talk about how Grimlord takes inspiration from Dark Souls and how it plays in VR. This is Grimlord, the best Dark Souls VR experience out there.
The Alien: Isolation VR Mod MotherVR is a fantastic way to enjoy Alien: Isolation in VR. With this mod not only can you view and control the game entirely in Virtual Reality, but the Alien: Isolation VR Mod also allows you to use your touch controller buttons to control the game, or you can use a mouse and keyboard or gamepad. Unfortunately you can’t actually move your hands with the touch controllers in the MotherVR Alien: Isolation VR Mod. Still, this is a great VR mod, though it’s not perfect.
If you’re wondering whether or not you should try Propagation: Paradise Hotel, or whether it’s worth your time and money, then this review will answer those questions. We’ll go through the premise, looks, sound, and game mechanics of Propagation: Paradise Hotel here. Welcome to this Propagation: Paradise Hotel Review.
I Am Cat does exactly what it says in the title. It takes you, a human wearing a Virtual Reality headset, and turns you into a cat.
Well, it doesn’t make you a cat exactly, you’ll still be you, but I Am Cat does an absolutely incredible job of putting you into the furry paws of a feline and making you feel like a cat n Virtual Reality.
This is the very definition of a VR Cat Game. The game doesn’t involve cats, or happen to show cats, or let you look at cats. I Am Cat makes you the cat, and it does so in very novel and fun ways that make full use of Virtual Reality hand controls and immersion.
