The Resting Place

Wake up and listen to Channel 47 as always, but beware that you might want to do a bit more prep than usual this time.

The task to get the cache in Memorial Lane.

For your trip to Memorial Lane you’re probably going to get shot much more than usual, so make sure to bring at least 2 bandages, probably 3 to be safe. Oh, and bring a lot of firepower and ammunition too. You may find yourself fighting through a ton of enemies.

Especially for this mission make sure to craft a bit of every type of item and store it in your base. That means food, ammo, weapons, meds, and anything else you might ever need. You’ve definitely got a ton of crafting supplies by now, so turn them into some useful stuff before you head off on this mission. You won’t regret it.

When you’re armed to the teeth and have your healing items ready in your backpack head off to Memorial Lane.

Traveling to Memorial Lane.

The Battle Of Memorial Lane

When you arrive in Memorial Lane it may be suspiciously quiet… that won’t last long.

Take a look at your map.

The map of Memorial Lane.

See that tree icon in the center of the map? That’s the battlefield that not only contains the cache, but also a bunch of Reclaimed and Tower soldiers fighting each other to the death over it. At least they’ll start spawning in and fighting when you get close enough.

For now make your way down Garrison street towards the house marked as blue on your map. There will be some tower guards in front of it.

The Blue House is lightly guarded.

While they won’t be initially hostile feel free to just blast your way through them to get inside of the house. Once inside head up to the second floor.

There will be another guard or two in there. Take them out before you settle down in this room, which contains a hunting rifle, some ammo and junk on the table, and a picture which shows you a picture of a national guard crate with a number on it.

This room shows you which cache is the correct one, and can be used for a little sniping as well.

There are a bunch of caches all over the battlefield below, but most of them are empty. Only one contains supplies and that is cache number 41. It is located on the red couch right beside the tree in the center of the battlefield.

Of course it’s a battlefield, and as you’ll be able to see through the hole in the wall leading outside, there are Tower and Reclaimed soldiers fighting over it (or possibly just standing around, depending on how it worked out for you.)

Regardless you’ll have to make your way down there. The problem is that soldiers will just keep spawning after they are killed. Infinitely.

So you can pick off a few from your perch in the house with the rifle if you like, but eventually you’re going to have to run down there and get to that cache.

Cache 41 itself, which is full of loot for you.

This is where the medical items come in. Once you open the cache there will be quite a bit of loot inside, and more soldiers will spawn and run in right to where you are as you try and grab it.

So you will need to balance grabbing the supplies in the cache with healing yourself. If you’d rather just leave with your skin intact you can also always just open the cache and then leave right after. It’s up to you, but this is definitely the hardest cache to actually loot.

Once you’ve got the goods run back over to the blue house that you started at and back up Garrison street to the boat you arrived in.

Something’s Wrong In The Resting Place

Once you return back to The Resting Place and walk back towards the bus you’ll hear some strange noises. Like somebody… tinkering? Rifling through things?

You’ll quickly realize what it is when you see two tower soldiers running away from your bus.

Thieves!

They’ve taken all of your crafting materials, and on top of that even your sleeping flask! Luckily any items that you’ve already stored inside of your bus are still left behind.

Well that just won’t stand. So read the next part of this The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners - Aftershocks walkthrough to get your flask, and some of your stuff, back.

The Resting Place

You know the drill by now. Wake up and listen to channel 47.

The task list for your newest mission in Old Town

This time you will be heading to Old Town to retrieve another cache that the Tower has seemingly gotten their hands on.

Gear up as usual. Bring some firepower, bring a bandage or two, and maybe even some extra food this time. This trip to Old Town will involve traveling up and down the entire map at least once. Bring at least two melee weapons for walkers as well.

Oh, and especially make you have crafted the Tactical Flashlight. That’s the recipe you got from the reserve cache in the previous mission.

When you’re ready, go to the boat and travel to Old Town.

Traveling to Old Town in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners - Aftershocks

Old Town - Finding The Cache

As you arrive in Old Town you will spawn at the boat on the top end of Walnut street, but before you take a look at your map check out the note on the side of this dumpster.

The dumpster right next to where you spawn in contains the first clue to the location of the cache

It’s a clue with different symbols pointing in different directions.

There will be more of these notes, and they all follow a pattern. The colored object is a hint for where the trail you’re supposed to follow starts. The symbols combined with each direction shows you which direction you are supposed to move in when you see that symbol.

So if the arrow points to the right, then go up to the symbol, turn to the right, and go in that direction. How do you see these symbols? That’s the hint on this first note, the purple lightbulb.

Pull out your new Tactical Flashlight, turn it on, and hit the A button while holding it to turn on the ultraviolet light.

Use the ultraviolet light on your tactical flashlight to see the clues

This heart means you should take a left and go forward. Keep in mind that some of these clues aren’t exact, so each time you turn right doesn’t mean you’ll be turning directly right at a ninety degree angle.

Some clues are a bit harder to follow than others, but when you spot another symbol painted on a surface with your UV light you’ll know you’re going in the right direction.

If you get lost or frustrated and want to go to the end of the trail then just go to the location circled in red on this map.

The location that the first set of clues leads to

It’s the mostly empty reserve cache box right past the old car parked in the parking space next to the house colored light orange on the map.

You should also be aware that you’re going to run into some Tower soldiers patrolling around the house and the approaches leading to it, so be ready for a fight. There won’t be many. They’re nothing you can’t handle.

This time somebody got to the cache before you did

Chasing Clues Around Old Town

Looks like the Tower, or somebody else, got to the cache first!

Inside the box are a couple of scraps, but also another set of clues and a note. Read the note for some story context, and check out the clue directions for where to go next.

The second set of directions

Once again follow the clues, this time you will find the first clue on a yellow truck that is parked on the road down Walnut street. You can’t miss it if you just go out on the street and head down it on the map.

If you get lost or frustrated then here’s a map showing you where the clues ultimately lead to.

The location that the second set of clues leads to

This time it’s a hidden note behind the large building in the center of Old Town marked as light blue on your map.

The location of the third note, hidden carefully behind a broken wall

Be careful on your way here. In addition to the usual walkers there are also a sizeable number of Reclaimed on the street in front of, and around the big house.

Once again there is a note and a clue. Read the note for some fun context and check out the clue.

The third clue cipher

Once again the trail will begin with a truck, but a very particular truck with a jazz band on the side of it.

This truck is actually pretty far away from the note, all the way over on Prytanya street. If you get on Prytanya street and keep going down it so that you are traveling to the right on your map you will see the truck.

Keep in mind going straight down the street will probably end up with you running into some of the Reclaimed guarding the area. They are fairly scattered around and not much of a threat, but be ready for them.

The truck where the third clue trail starts

Luckily the final note isn’t very far from the truck.

Here’s the location of the final note on a map.

The location of the final note

The last note is located behind some cardboard boxes on the porch of the house marked as light green on your map.

Again, there will be some human enemies hanging around the street and house with the note.

The final note is hidden behind these boxes on the porch

Inside of the stash is a final note that luckily just tells you where to go without bothering without all of these ultraviolet clues.

It says to find what is left of the cache inside some soggy boxes near the boat on Walnut street. Yep, the boat on Walnut street, that is where you started.

The location of what is left of the reserve cache

Go back to the boat on the top side of Walnut street and you can find the boxes tucked away by these ruined cars.

The remnants of the reserve cache are located inside of the open cardboard box

Inside you’ll find practically nothing except a funny note, some National Guard memorabilia, and most importantly another strange key.

Make sure to take the key and leave at your leisure. Unfortunately there’s no huge supply haul this time, but you can loot the map for a while or feel free to just turn around and go back to the Resting Place.

The Resting Place

As always, scrap what loot you found and head to bed.

The Resting Place

Once again tune your radio to channel 47 to hear the latest in National Guard cache news. This time the cache is located in Bastion, and just like the last one the Reclaimed have found it before you.

The difference is that they’re already guarding it. So your mission is one you should recognize from the main game. Get into the building guarded by enemies, get the goods, and get out.

The mission you will be undertaking to get the national guard cache in Bastion.

You are definitely going to want to bring some firepower, as with any Aftershocks mission. The duplex will be well guarded by Reclaimed soldiers.

You can sneak your way in or try to pick them off one by one with quiet weapons like a Bow, or you can just get the big guns and blast your way through. It’s up to you, but regardless of your choice in weaponry you should definitely bring at least one bandage.

Most importantly for this mission, you should bring a Nail Bomb. You will only need one, but make sure you don’t use it on any enemies. If you forget to bring it or accidentally use it you can still complete the mission without one. It’s just very convenient to have an explosive when you need it. You’ll find out exactly when later on in this walkthrough.

As always, when you’re armed, fed, and prepared, head out to Bastion.

Traveling to Bastion.

The National Guard Cache In Bastion

Once you’re in, take a look at your map. There are two streets you can take to get into Bastion, and one is about as good as the other, and both lead to one of the two sides of the duplex.

Two routes to get to the duplex in Bastion.

Go to Walnut street and turn right or left before taking either Bonaparte or Cardinal respectively.

If you forgot to bring a Nail Bomb then I’d recommend taking the Bonaparte route. You will need an explosive once you get inside the duplex, and there are a ton of propane canisters inside of the building colored blue in the top left corner of the map. That’s the building with the car crashed into it.

Should you need to go there to get the canister beware the pair of Reclaimed guards around the front.

This house is full of propane tanks, and is lightly guarded. If you forgot to bring an explosive take one from in here.

Go around the back of the house and knock down the boards blocking the hole in the wall to get inside and get a propane canister. Drag it over to the duplex, though I’d recommend you clear out the enemies blocking whichever side you decide to attack through before trying to take the canister inside.

If you brought a Nail Bomb you won’t have to bother with the propane canister, but you will have to worry about the Reclaimed guards either way. If you stay on the street then they won’t automatically attack you.

Though if you step off of the street and on to one of the yards then they will start shooting at you if they spot you for too long.

Start the fight at long range from the street so you can pick off a few enemies easily.

There are a few guards posted on either side of the building, and at least one group that patrol from one side to the other. Your goal is to get inside one of the doors leading into the duplex.

It’s not recommended to try and go around the sides of the building. There are barbed wire traps in the garage, and either way the other side of the duplex will only have more guards for you to deal with. So all you can do is take a straight shot across the yard and to the doors leading inside.

With a little luck and a little skill you can sneak your way across by sticking to the pieces of cover in the yard and picking the right moment to move. It’s much easier to start the shooting yourself though, because you can pick your position and take the first shot from the street and pick off the Reclaimed as they try to get closer to you.

You’ll also have to fight the Reclaimed inside of the duplex.

This is an instance where shooting first turns out to be much simpler than trying to sneak your way around, even if you like to sneak.

Regardless once you get inside stay on your toes and keep a weapon ready. There will be more Reclaimed soldiers standing guard inside of the building, and one or two patrolling around.

For a hint on the location of the cache, and a very interesting lore tidbit, stay on the first floor of the duplex once you get in. Then head to the stairwell on the lower side of the building on your map.

The location of the note on the map. First floor.

On top of a pair of washing machines there will be a note from whoever found and hid the national guard cache.

It’s the purple note on top of that washing machine.

You don’t have to get the note, but it is a fun read.

Either way head to the upper side of the building on your map, second floor.

The location of the locked door on the map. Second floor.

It will be the door to the right of the top of the stairs on that side of the building. If you remember where you spoke with JB on your last visit here then it’s the door on the other side of the building from where he was.

Either way you can just keep trying doors on the second floor until one doesn’t open. The locked door is where the cache is hidden.

This is the locked door you need to blow up.

Now here is where that nail bomb or propane canister comes into play.

There’s no lockpicking in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, so your only way through is to blow up the door. Stay at a safe distance and either throw your bomb at the door or leave a canister in front of the door and shoot the canister.

Blowing up the door with a nail bomb.

Once you’re inside the national guard cache is inside in a corner. Open it up and discover another treasure trove of goodies.

Even better, there’s a crafting recipe inside as well.

The tactical flashlight blueprint is inside of the national guard crate.

Good stuff, take the recipe and all of the supplies you can carry.

Though you should be very careful when taking the nail bombs. If your inventory is full and you try to put on inside of your backpack by releasing your grip on the bomb over your shoulder then the bomb will fall to the floor and explode.

So make sure you have space in your inventory when taking the nail bombs inside of the cache.

Anyway once you’re done feel free to head back to your boat. It’s easier to go out via whichever side of the building you came in, since you’ve likely already cleared out quite a few enemies already. Though if you snuck inside you’ll probably have to shoot your way out. Be ready for more Reclaimed either way.

Once you’re out of the duplex head back to the Resting Place.

The Resting Place

Congratulations! That’s another National Guard cache down, and also a new crafting recipe.

Immediately go over to your gun workbench to craft the Tactical Flashlight. It can be found on the left side of the bench with all of the Tourist Edition weapon skins (if you have the Tourist Edition.)

Crafting the Tactical Flashlight.

You’re going to need that upgraded flashlight very soon. Just pick it up once you craft it and it will take the place of your old one. You can even turn on the UV mode with it and find some interesting notes spread around the bus.

Now for a well deserved rest.

Another day another drink to go to sleep.

Need a guide on what comes next? Next time you’ll be headed over to Old Town to find another cache and put that shiny new flashlight to good use.

The Resting Place

Once again it’s time to get ready for the mission ahead. Tune your radio to channel 47 to listen to the Tower talk about the latest cache in The Ward and also get the usual intel about random events scattered around the maps.

The Reserve - Ghost Town mission is what we will be tackling today.

By now you should have a pretty good idea of what to bring and what not to bring, given that you’ve retrieved a couple of caches by now.

This mission won’t take very long, and at first you’ll just be fighting roaming walkers, but you will have to fight heavily armed Reclaimed soldiers at the end. Plan accordingly. You have access to plenty of powerful firearms. Bring some. Bring a bandage just in case you need it as well.

You’ll be fighting your way through at least a couple of squads of human opponents. Firearms and explosives are as useful as ever against them.

You won’t be able to rely on stealth in this mission if that is your usual playstyle. Once you’re ready, head out to The Ward.

Traveling to The Ward.

The Ward National Guard Cache

You will arrive in The Ward near the Radio Station, on the top side of the map. Take a look at your map and get your bearings. Your objective is in The big building colored blue in the lower left side of the map.

The most straightforward route to get to the cache.

You will notice that there is a route marked in red on this screenshot. That’s the way you should take to get to Nile shipping and logistics. There won’t be able notable threats along the way, just walkers (unless you have Tower or Reclaimed patrol modifiers from channel 47, those will still spawn).

Squeeze through the fence in the lot that you spawn in, since Madrid street is blocked, then continue through the shipping yard. You can take a right or a left to go to Dennison or Madrid. It doesn’t really matter but Dennison is the more direct path.

Then turn left onto Pious street and stop when you see this overturned truck.

This truck signifies the only way into the shipping office.

You’ll need to climb up the pallet of boxes next to the cab of the truck, then on the truck’s trailer, and then up into the large opening in the side of the building.

This is the only way into the shipping office. The doors leading in and out are all blocked.

This is the only way into the shipping office containing the cache.

Once you’re inside things are still eerily quiet, and you will notice a lot of Reclaimed bodies lying around. Feel free to loot as you go, or don’t bother. Most of your backpack slots will be filled when you get the cache anyway.

Go down the long hallway you’ll come across after entering, but beware the explosive trap in the center of it. You can shoot the trap’s tank or just go around it by using one of the doors in the hallway to go through the offices next to it.

Once you reach the end of the hallway take the stairs down. Head towards the next long hallway, but take the first left. The way you’re supposed to go has several barbed wire traps.

Take this path to the cache on the first floor of Nile shipping and logistics.

Break the barbed wire with your flashlight or a weapon, but be careful there is an explosive trap right after them.

This is probably a trick by the level designers meant to get you to assume that the next tripwire is a barbed wire trap, and get blown up as you touch it. Shoot the propane tank connected to the trap instead. Make sure you’re far enough away that the blast won’t hurt you.

Past the trap there’s a big garage with some various loot and most importantly the national guard cache sitting on top of some boxes. Open it up and take the loot inside. This time it’s a ton of weapon parts and ammunition.

The Ward’s National Guard cache.

Leaving The Ward

You’ve got the goods and now it’s time to leave. So head back out the way you came in on the second floor of the logistics office.

You’ll probably hear some gunshots and human voices outside. That’s right, the Reclaimed have shown up and surrounded the building.

When you make it to the door leading back outside on the second floor make sure to stay low as you open it. If you stick your head out too far outside you might get shot at. The Reclaimed are not here to play.

Fight your way out of here. Take a right down the street.

Stay low and pick your time to pounce. Since you’ve got the advantage of height it will be easy to see and shoot down on the patrolling enemies below you.

So when a patrol passes below wipe them out with an explosive or pick them off with gunfire. You could also wait for the patrols to pass and try to sneak your way out.

The most direct route out, and the one you should take, is with the boat in the purple building marked “Skiff” in the bottom left corner of your map.

To reach it, take a right and go down Pious street as you exit the building. Though unfortunately there will be a group of Reclaimed guards in front of the building containing your way out of The Ward. You will have to fight through them.

These Reclaimed guard the closest way out.

Once you’ve blasted through take the boat inside back to The Resting Place.

The Resting Place

As always scrap your loot and head to sleep. Good job. Another cache secured. You’ve got a practically ridiculous amount of supplies now.

Time for bed.

Need a guide on what comes next? Next time you’re headed over to Bastion to retrieve yet another National Guard cache, but this one will be even better than the one’s you’ve got so far.

As with any mission in this The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Aftershocks walkthrough, let’s talk about getting ready for the struggle ahead.

If your radio isn’t tuned to station 47 then tune it. You’ll be able to hear not only a Tower broadcast about the national guard cache at Rampart, but also the random changes to different locations for the day (i.e. caches, patrols, etc).

Oh, and make sure to check the steps leading into the bus. You’ll find that somebody has left you a note.

Someone left you a note on the steps leading up to the bus. Very ominous.

Anyway, on to preparing for the mission. Just like previously when we went to Bywater, there are a ton of human enemies guarding the Rampart High School and the cache within.

While stealth is an option if you prefer it, this mission can be completed by avoiding human opponents instead of fighting them, it’s better to make sure you’re prepared by bringing some firepower that is effective against armored human soldiers armed with guns.

Bring at least one larger firearm and at least one pistol. A bow can be useful if you want to rely on stealth, but if you bring one it’s wise to bring another large firearm for backup. Using a few of your backpack slots to carry a bandage and a couple of explosives as well won’t hurt.

There will be a ton of loot to be had during this mission, and regardless you should be pretty well off in the resources department already, so don’t worry too much about leaving room for scavenged items. It’s time to have fun with all of the recipes and items you found during the original campaign.

Finally, make sure you’ve got a couple of melee weapons for walkers, and it might be wise to bring some food if you plan to try and get some of the crafting recipes found in Rampart after you complete your main objective of finding the cache.

There are no bells in this mission, so you will have unlimited time to search the area for any recipes you might have missed. The only time constraint is your stamina bar getting smaller due to hunger.

The Rampart National Guard Cache

Once you’re armed to the teeth and ready to go, head over to the boat and leave for Rampart.

Luckily the route to your objective is pretty straightforward. Once you arrive in Rampart take a look at your map

A direct route to the national guard cache. Watch out for the tower patrols on the way.

See the route outlined above? That’s the most direct route to the cache, and sort of your only route. You can also go around the top of the gym, but if you go that way you will definitely run into trouble.

Normally in Rampart there are more ways into and out of the school open to you, but here in Aftershocks they’re mostly blocked off. To get to the cache and the entrance to the east wing of the school beside it, you’ll have to go through the courtyard.

The courtyard is the most dangerous place to be in Rampart right now. It’s full of Tower patrols. After you go through the gate which is right in front of where you will spawn in, you’ll see or hear them.

The Tower soldiers aren’t very observant and can be avoided if you are careful.

There will also be some stationary tower grunts guarding the side entrances to the courtyard, like that on the other side of the basketball court, and the other one from behind the east wing of the school.

I recommend following the path highlighted on the map above and just going straight through the courtyard. There are a few Tower patrols that you can sneak past if necessary, or fight.

Fighting them isn’t tough because you can easily get the jump on them, or use explosives like nail bombs or sticky bombs to perform an effective ambush. With all of the tools at your disposal they should be no problem.

Whether you sneak through or fight your way through you’ll find the national guard cache near the open entrance to the east wing, on the bottom right of the courtyard on your map. It’s under an awning and next to a big yellow schoolbus.

The cache is on that table next to the school bus, already opened.

Unfortunately the cache is mostly empty, but there is a note inside, a bandage, and most importantly a strange key. Make sure to take the key.

The note will give you some story and tell you to go to the library. Conveniently there is an entrance to the school that is very near the library and right next to the cache. If you’re facing the empty cache box, just turn around.

The entrance to the school next to the cache.

Head inside and get your melee weapons ready for some walkers.

There aren’t any human enemies inside of Rampart, they’re confined to the courtyard, but inside there will be plenty of walkers and plenty of wire traps.

Luckily these traps aren’t the explosive sort we saw last time, they’ll only hurt you a little if you touch them. It’s easy to disarm them by just touching them with an object, like your flashlight or a melee weapon. So they’re mostly harmless.

These wire traps are easy to disarm by touching them with an object.

Anyway, once you’re inside, immediately take a right and go down the hallway that ends in the door blocked by that computer cart, like you can see in the screenshot above.

Once you reach the end of the hallway turn left and go up the big staircase. Once you are at the top of the stairs go down the hallway leading out of the stairwell until you see some double doors on your left next to a blockage in the hallway where the roof caved in.

Those double doors lead into the library, and once you enter the library keep to the left and you’ll find the contents of the national guard cache just behind the big desk there.

That’s a lot of loot!

There you are, the contents of the national guard cache. Fill your backpack up to your heart’s content. You’ll never want for medicine or bandages again with this haul.

I do recommend you prioritize the “box of loot” items though, since you’ll probably not be able to take everything.

Leaving Rampart

Oh, and on the desk next to the cache is a note with some more story, and the news that the Reclaimed will be there soon. Specifically, it says that they’ll be attacking the courtyard with all of the Tower soldiers inside of it.

This isn’t great news for you, since you’ll be leaving through the courtyard. The exits other than the way you came in are all blocked.

Head back out of the high school the way you came. Head back out through the library’s double doors and take a right. After heading down the stairs just keep going straight down the hallway until you see the exit on your left.

Exiting back to the courtyard, be ready.

Get ready, because there is going to be some fighting out in the courtyard. As soon as you exit the school a couple of large squads of Reclaimed troops will spawn in and sweep the courtyard for enemies, which includes you.

Unless you managed to make it through stealthily and without destroying a single Tower soldier out there. I’m unsure if this is a bug, but I found that if I didn’t get rid of any of the Tower soldiers patrolling then the Reclaimed will just not spawn in.

Though the moment you do shoot a Tower soldier they will spawn in regardless. This seems odd, so I can’t be sure if the same will happen for you, but if you prefer the stealthy approach then you might have an easier time leaving Rampart if you stick to being sneaky.

In the likely event that the Reclaimed do show up they will quickly overwhelm the Tower guards that remain, though the more Tower soldiers you left behind the more there will be to resist the Reclaimed.

The Reclaimed patrols are very tough.

The Reclaimed will be harder to take on than the Tower were though, their groups are bigger and more heavily armed. You’ll have a tougher time blasting your way through.

That being said, once the Tower soldiers are gone the Reclaimed will patrol the courtyard, giving you opportunities to slip around them by stealth or ambush them. You can head back to the boat you came in on via the main gate, or head there by taking the path leading around the Gym, which will be free of human enemies once you make it out of the courtyard.

Regardless, you are strong, and there will certainly be tougher battles ahead. So don’t worry, you’ve got this whether you need to blast or sneak your way out. Head back to the boat that you arrived on, in the top left corner of the map.

Once you’re back at the boat you came in on travel back to The Resting Place, organize your loot, and go to sleep.

Going back to sleep in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners - Aftershocks DLC.
